Homemade Caramel Coffee Creamer

I've been really trying to eliminate as much artificial ingredients from my diet as much as possible.  Eating fresh is just so much better for you.  I think I've been doing a pretty good job but after thinking about it, something I consumed every day was completely artificial-coffee creamer. Take a look at the back of a container-you can't pronounce half of the ingredients in there!  So after looking around, I found a wonderful recipe for a coffee creamer base-and guess what-it's only 2 ingredients!  From that point, you can go ahead and flavor it with all your favorite flavors. Matt and I are especially fans of caramel in our coffee, so I decided to go ahead and make caramel coffee creamer.  This time around, I used the soft caramels that come individually wrapped, but I would like to try to make my own homemade caramel in the future.

The best part about this was how much it made-I easily got more than a container's worth of creamer. Another great thing about this was the cost-it is very cost efficient.  And of course, this was extremely easy to make.

I really love this and can't wait to try out different flavors in the very near future!

Homemade Caramel Coffee Creamer

Coffee Creamer Base:
14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
14 ounces whole milk

Whisk together both ingredients until combined. Store in refrigerator.

To make Caramel Flavored Creamer:
1/4 package soft caramels, unwrapped (use more or less depending on taste preferences)

Heat coffee creamer base in a medium saucepan until warm.  Add in caramels and allow to completely melt, stirring frequently.  Allow mixture to cool before refrigerating.

  1. I don't normally drink coffee, but I do love caramel-flavored coffee! I bet this would work fabulously in some coffee ice cream too!
