Taco Chicken Burgers

I think one reason I've become so enamored by chicken burgers is the fact that they allow for so much versatility.  I think you can add more flavor combinations to them than ground beef because the chicken doesn't compete as much with the other flavors since it's not as strong as the beef flavor.  I've also come to the conclusion that ground chicken is more moist than ground turkey and I've been finding that I have been craving chicken burgers much more than turkey burgers this summer.

This recipe was a no brainer for me-I love chicken burgers and I love Mexican flavors, so I figured to combine the two.  The result was an amazingly moist, juicy and flavorful burger.

Taco Chicken Burgers

1 pound ground chicken
1 green onion, diced
1-2 tablespoons taco seasoning
4 hamburger buns, toasted

Toppings of your choice, such as:
Cheddar or pepperjack cheese
Lettuce
Tomato
Avocado, peeled, pitted and sliced
Salsa
Sour cream

Preheat grill.

Combine the ground chicken, onion, taco seasoning  in a bowl, mixing with your hands.  Form into 4 patties.

Grill the chicken patties until the meat is no longer pink and juices run clear, about 8 to 10 minutes per side, depending on how thick you made them. Top with cheese during the last few minutes of cooking. To serve, place each patty on one half of a hamburger bun and top with desired amounts of toppings. Cover with remaining half of bun and enjoy!
