Homemade Cranberry Sauce

I have never been a fan of the cranberry "sauce" that comes from a can.  I don't know if it's the look, the smell or the texture, but whatever it is, I don't eat it.  A few years ago, my brother introduced me to a cranberry sauce that I not only like, but I adore.  This sauce so good, I could sit with a spoon and eat it on it's own! When I saw a version on Kylee Cooks, I knew it was time to go ahead and try making it myself.

There really is a huge difference between homemade cranberry sauce and the kind you buy-and the best part is that it is so simple to make!  I promise that this will do wonders to your turkey, leftovers and dishes like turkey cranchilladas!

I kept the recipe simple but if you like, you can add some cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, etc to add some spice. Thank you to A Taste of Home Cooking for hosting another fun recipe swap!

Homemade Cranberry Sauce

1 bag (12 ounces) fresh cranberries
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water or orange juice (freshly squeezed works really well)

Put the water or orange juice in a saucepan with the sugar.  Heat until the sugar dissolves, then add the cranberries and cook until they pop and mixture boils slightly, about 10 minutes. Allow to cool before serving.
