I hope that this post finds you rejuvenated for the new year. I wish everyone a wonderful, healthy and happy new year!
I started this blog in the Spring of 2011 and have really enjoyed sharing recipes and stories through my writing. I hope to continue to explore food and experiment with cooking and baking throughout 2012. Since starting this blog I have shared quite a few recipes so I wanted to take this time to share my top 10 favorite recipes from 2011.
Here they are (in no particular order!):
Cashew Chicken
This is one of my first blog postings and coincidentally also has one of my favorite stories I shared on this blog. This cashew chicken hits the spot whenever the craving for Chinese food comes along-and it is quick and easy to make!
Soft Garlic Knots
I think these garlic knots will forever be a staple in our home! I love having these on hand to pair with everything from salads to soups to Italian food. These garlic knots are not complicated to make at all and are so delicious!
Roasted Asparagus with Parmesan
Who says side dishes have to be boring? This recipe for roasted asparagus is one of our favorites-it comes together in no time at all and tastes great every single time.
Tuna Pasta Salad
Tuna pasta salad is one of my go to recipes in the warmer months. Besides the pasta, nothing else needs to get heated up. I love the way the flavors combine together and the tuna adds a surprising twist to ordinary pasta salad and makes the dish hearty enough to be a complete meal.
Pizza Dough and Pizza Sauce and Grilled Pizza
Matt and I have been loving our Friday night pizzas. We love trying new ways to make pizza, and grilling has to be one of our favorites. We are planning on continuing to experiment with different toppings and additions to our pizza this year!
Creamy Taquitos
If I had to pick just one recipe that was my favorite in 2011, it would be the taquitos. These are one of our all time favorite meals and I honestly can't wait to make them again and again!
Steak Sandwiches
I never was a huge steak person. But after having these, I have to say that I do enjoy a good steak! Between the perfectly cooked steak on the grill, the delicious mustard mayo and spicy arugula, this is the perfect summer dinner.
Bacon Mac and Cheese
Bacon and mac and cheese together? Ummm, yes please! Seriously, how can you go wrong with that combination? I absolutely love this dish and have made it several times. The fontina, white cheddar and spinach make it feel like extra special comfort food.
Apple Pie with Homemade Pie Crust
I was so proud of myself when I made this apple pie and crust. I had never made a homemade crust before and I can honestly say I don't think I will ever go back to store bought again-the taste difference is remarkable and it really isn't hard at all to make your own crust!
Chocolate Chip Scones
Yet another new staple in our home. I love to have these in the freezer and heat them up for breakfast on days off. I also made them for our families for the holidays. These are not your typical dry and crumbly scones-they are soft and buttery and little packets of deliciousness!
