Ranch Dressing

Ranch salad dressing has always been my favorite dressing.  I love it on my salads, I prefer it over blue cheese with wings, and I love using it as a dip.

I know some of you might think it's not worth making homemade salad dressing when it's so readily available and cheap at the grocery store, but I promise you this recipe is worth it-and it definitely is not hard to make at all.  I decided to make this because most of the times if I order a salad in a restaurant or buy a bottle of ranch dressing, it's okay...but not always great and I wanted to find a salad dressing that was always perfect.  As a bonus, I love knowing what ingredients are in the food I'm eating-go ahead a read the label on a bottle of salad dressing-what is half of that stuff?  And yet another bonus is that this recipe makes quite a bit (about 16 servings)-we were able to keep it in a container in the refrigerator for over a week before it was all gone!

If you love ranch dressing as much as I do, I highly recommend trying this simple and delicious recipe!

Ranch Dressing

3/4 cup light mayonnaise (I used light)
3/4 cup sour cream (I used light)
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1/4-3/4 cup buttermilk
1 small bunch of chives
Small handful of parsley
1 clove garlic
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper

Place all ingredients with 1/4 cup of the buttermilk in a blender or large food processor.  Blend for 10 seconds.  Check consistency and taste and blend in more buttermilk if desired.  Adjust seasonings to taste.  Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
