Dog Treats: Frozen Peanut Butter Goodies

If you are a dog owner, and you like to spoil your dog like I do, these treats are great!  Captain, our dog, goes crazy for Frosty Paws.  For those of you who aren't familiar with these treats, they are ice cream treats made especially for dogs.  As much as we love making our dog happy, there were a few issues with these Frosty Paws.  For starters, they are pretty big, and we weren't comfortable giving Captain such a large treat, so we ended up cutting them in half every time we would give him one.  Obviously cutting something that is frozen isn't a lot of fun.  Second, Frosty Paws are expensive!  They cost more than adult ice cream!  (Actually, to think of it, most dog-related things are quite pricey).  The other issue I have with those treats are all of the artificial ingredients-I'm just not comfortable feeding my dog loads of chemicals and what not.

Along comes this recipe...these treats are a great alternative to Frosty Paws-they are smaller, cost less, and you can identify every ingredient in them!  For those of you that are not familiar with Frosty Paws, I still recommend trying this recipe for your pup-they will love them!

Frozen Peanut Butter Goodies

16 ounces low-fat or non-fat plain yogurt
1 mashed banana
1/4 cup natural peanut butter
1 tablespoon honey

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.  Spoon mixture into an ice cube tray.  Freeze for at least 2 hours or until solid.  To serve, let thaw slightly and pop out of ice cube tray.  If stuck, run a knife around the outside of the treat.
