Some days, there is nothing better than a good burger. Matt and I make different types of burgers quite often in the warmer months and lately we've both been liking chicken burgers. Matt is definitely more of a fan of using regular ground beef, and I always tended to prefer turkey burgers. However, we have recently been using ground chicken for our burgers as well. I actually think that chicken burgers can be better than turkey burgers-they are really juicy and have a lot of flavor.
There are lots of different combinations of ingredients that you can use when making chicken burgers. Below is a basic recipe for a very tasty and satisfying burger!
Grilled Chicken Burgers
1 pound ground chicken
1/2 onion, chopped
2 clove garlic, chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
1 medium carrot, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup Italian seasoned dry bread crumbs
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
kosher salt
pepper
Toppings of your choice (I like to use a combination of any of the following: arugula, tomatoes, cheese, grilled onions, raw onions, mustard, ketchup, mayo)
Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat.
In a large bowl, combine the chicken and vegetables. Add the bread crumbs, Worcestershire, parsley, dry mustard, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix all together well and form into 4 patties.
Grill over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until completely cooked.
